Your goal was always to be your own boss, with no upper management to deal with daily. At first, you were successful, selling your paintings and photos at craft shows and online. Money was steady, and you enjoyed sharing your art with your customers.
You liked to use substances on occasion, sometimes cocaine to push through finishing a long project, and weed and alcohol would help you calm down to be able to sleep. It never seemed to be a problem, but soon you noticed a drop in sales. People were commenting on your work, saying your paintings were losing their quality. This led you to spiral, and before you knew it, substances became your whole life. It had been months since you even picked up a paintbrush and you wondered if you would ever paint again.
In 2019, 404,000 people were diagnosed with a substance use disorder in Arizona. Here at Recovery Center for the Arts, we offer partial hospitalization programming for substance use disorders. Our housing is supported through the Garfield Recovery House and is monitored by our compassionate staff. Here is what you can expect from our partial hospitalization program (PHP) rehab.
A PHP treatment plan involves therapy and skill-building classes at a facility while you complete your treatment. While staying at our facility is not required, you have the option for 24-hour monitoring and support as you maintain a daily schedule that is structured and stable at our residential housing. Here at Recovery Center for the Arts, our housing is available for anyone ages 18-45. You can use creative outlets to help you discover your artistic expression as it supports a lasting recovery journey.

Here at Recovery Center for the Arts, you can expect access to various creative tools to help your recovery and self-expression. These tools include writing, photography, music, and painting. You can also expect treatment from qualified licensed mental health therapists from Lifeline Professional Counseling Services. These therapists received licenses from the Department of Health Services and national credentials from the Council on Accreditation (COA). You can also expect to interact with other professionals, such as healing arts instructors and trained professional addiction support staff. Our PHP also allows you to interact with other peers seeking to better themselves through creative outlets.
You will also be exposed to various treatment options as well. One of the treatment modalities you will experience is CBT. CBT’s primary focus is identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Techniques often found in CBT include behavioral experiments, homework assignments, and cognitive restructuring, which all aim to help you create healthier coping strategies and thought patterns. DBT is another treatment modality you will experience. DBT focuses on combining CBT with mindfulness and acceptance strategies as you learn to balance change-oriented strategy and acceptance of emotions and behaviors.
During psychodynamic therapy, you will explore thoughts, feelings, and past experiences that influence your behavior. Psychodynamic therapy allows you to have understanding as you resolve unconscious conflicts in your life. Creative expressive therapy uses the artistic process to explore and communicate emotions and thoughts. It has been helpful for those who might not be able to express those thoughts and emotions verbally. At Recovery Center for the Arts, you will also experience individual counseling, family therapy, educational sessions, and group therapy.
When you attend PHP, there are several advantages that other types of treatment might not be able to provide. Here are a few of those advantages:
