Outpatient Treatment

“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I

had no words for.” - Georgia O'Keeffe

There are a lot of negative associations with creatives. You’ve probably heard the terms “starving artist” or “tortured poet”... almost as if mental health conditions or substance use go hand-in-hand with being deeply creative.

People talk about these things wistfully, admiring beautiful art that they created in spite of their sorrow, or perhaps because of it. People talk of how creativity drives people to “madness.” When you think of Lindsay Lohan, do you think of her latest movie “Irish Wish,” or do you think of when she was engaging with substances? People often talk about these dark moments like they’re inevitable, but they don't have to be.

While powerful and creative things can come from our darkest times, we don’t have to stay in the dark to keep being creative. Our team here at Recovery Center for the Arts is dedicated to helping you find healing.

What We Treat: Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders

Recovery is a lifetime journey that’s not innately linear. Many people assume you go from step 1 to step 10 in numerical order, but some people may need to start at step 3 or return to step 5 when they were at step 9. There’s no right way to heal, and at Recovery Center for the Arts, we fully understand that.

This is what we help with. Substance use recovery is unique to each individual and we want to be here to support you at any part of your journey. Whether you started in residential care, are returning to outpatient services for more support, or want to start your journey in outpatient, we’re here for you.

How We Treat: Outpatient Programming at Recovery Center for the Arts

Our primary way of handling treatment here at RCFTA is through our outpatient programming.

Our outpatient programming is a way to provide you with connections and support as you navigate your day-to-day life without alcohol or substances. It’s during a daily routine that most people encounter obstacles to their recovery. Whether it’s triggers from familiar places and faces, or facing large stressors in life, having access to support during this journey can help you navigate through these.

Defining Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment differs from inpatient or residential not in what treatment you get, but in how often you get it. Inpatient and residential treatment have clients on-site, surrounded by care and fellow peers 24/7. During outpatient programming, you go home at night and come on-site a few times a week or less, depending on your specific needs.

The Services and Therapies Offered in Our Outpatient Treatment Program

Our outpatient treatment program offers the same treatment options as our other levels of care. We provide the same quality of care, just on a different schedule.

In treatment at Recovery Center for the Arts, we offer a well-rounded experience to soothe the soul. We want to inspire you to find yourself and rediscover your creativity at the same time.

Individual Therapy Programs

Our individual treatment offers clients one-on-one time with our therapist team. We offer both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as our primary treatment modalities. Your time in individual treatment will teach you skills for managing obstacles in long-term recovery and serve as a way to plan and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

Group Therapy Programs

Being able to find support and treatment with peers is just one of the many benefits of group therapy. During group therapy, we utilize CBT and DBT while sharing support and insight from within the group. Most often clients will find that this fosters connection and understanding, shedding light on things outside of your perspective while providing validation on things you also experienced.

Art, Psychodrama, and Music Therapy

Throughout our treatment programs, we have a continued focus on creativity and the power it holds in healing. Many of our creative treatment programs work through group settings. Creativity not only fosters new growth within yourself but is a powerful tool for finding connections with others. You will work alongside your peers to explore creative outlets and find the right approach that works for you.

Our ability to create is an incredible gift we’ve been given as humans. From telling stories to singing, to painting and photography, creative outlets are a healing way to learn more about yourself.

Family Support Options

Part of healing comes with healing those around you who mean the most to you. This is where our family support options come into play. We want to see you have a long, successful road of recovery. This is why we have a family support group offered through our partner, Lifeline Behavioral Health.  Fostering healing and understanding amongst your family circle helps ensure you have the support you deserve.
