Scottsdale Addiction Treatment Services

You have been a painter ever since your first art class in middle school. Painting just came naturally to you, and with the guidance of your teacher, you were able to keep studying while selling your work. Things were going well for you – until everything changed.

The pandemic hit hard and you found that people were not spending as much money anymore. Your art was a luxury purchase, and many did not have the money to spend on it. You found yourself falling into depression, and many days you couldn’t muster the energy to paint anything. But being an artist is who you were, and without your craft, you fell into a deep depression.

One of your friends offers you some cocaine to help with your energy. At this point, you will try anything, and before you know it you are regularly using cocaine. Your friend sometimes brings over other substances too, which you gladly partake in. Using substances isn’t a bad thing, is it? You could stop if you wanted to, but it has been helping. You’re painting again, so it must be worth it – right?

What We Treat: Substance Use Disorders

Every person is different, and those living with addiction will have different stories than the person next to them. Substance use disorders are not one size fits all, but there are general signs that could indicate it is time to seek help. Some signs include:

  • Lying or hiding use
  • Poor work or school performance
  • Giving up activities once enjoyed
  • Switching friend groups
  • Stealing to be able to afford substances
  • Experiencing an overdose
  • Increased anxiety, depression, or mood swings
  • Paraphernalia such as spoons, small bags, rubber bands, syringes, straws, or lighters

If substances have become the focal point of your life, you may want to begin looking for treatment. Recovery Center for the Arts can help guide you and figure out what treatment path will fit your needs best. Our goal is to help you achieve your recovery goals in a safe and compassionate environment.

Drug Detox

Detoxification – also known as detox – is a natural process in which the body removes toxins. When it comes to substance use, the body becomes dependent on the substance and expects it in order to keep functioning. When the substance is taken away suddenly, the body goes into overdrive trying to restore balance. This causes symptoms of withdrawal, and they can be uncomfortable and painful. It is always best to seek a trusted detox center to complete this process. In drug detox, you can expect round-the-clock care in a safe space.

Recovery Center for the Arts is partnered with many local detox facilities that uphold our values and beliefs. We will refer you to one that fits your needs for detox treatment and once complete, you will join us at our facility for the remainder of treatment.

Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient treatment refers to staying at a facility 24/7. Housing and meals are provided and treatment typically takes place daily. Inpatient treatment is the most hands-on form of care and is suitable for those who need a change in scenery or to escape toxic situations. It removes all outside distractions and allows you to focus on yourself and your recovery.

At Recovery Center for the Arts, our partial hospitalization treatment is currently for anyone aged 18-45. While not required, we offer supportive housing through the Garfield Recovery House. The program is 4 weeks in length and consists of therapy 5 days per week. Our program addresses both substance use disorder and mental health at the same time.

Outpatient Treatment & Aftercare

There are different levels of outpatient treatment – intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient. IOP is a step down from inpatient treatment and consists of therapies multiple days per week. In IOP, the patient has usually transitioned back into home life or sober living. Outpatient services are a further step down in care and consist of scheduled therapies that can be weekly, monthly, or as needed. Outpatient treatment is a form of aftercare and provides support as the patient needs. Aftercare can also consist of alumni groups and community support meetings such as AA or SMART.
Recovery Center for the Arts offers both IOP and outpatient programming. IOP is open to all, and care coordinators help establish short or long-term housing options. The program consists of therapy and support sessions multiple days per week, while the patient reintegrates into their home life. Those who have completed the PHP program with us are suggested to enter IOP after. Outpatient services provide ongoing support for our patients as needed. They can schedule appointments and choose to attend other support meetings within our community.
